Overview
Plant Operator is the one plan you start yourself — choose Start free and sign up online. Every paid plan — Contractor, Builder and Hire — is set up for you by the PreStartGo team after a quote. When Plant Operator's machine cap, or the need to host sites, is what's holding you back, the next step is a conversation, not a checkout.
Before you start
- Plan
- Plant Operator
- Role
- Account Owner — the person who agrees the plan for the organisation
How to move to a paid plan
- 1
Talk to us. Use the contact form, which opens on "Ask about pricing", or email sales@prestartgo.com. Tell us your organisation's name, roughly how many machines you run, and whether you host your own sites or hire machines out.
- 2
We quote for your fleet. We'll recommend the plan that fits — Contractor, Builder or Hire — and any add-ons you need, and send you a quote.
- 3
We set it up. Once you've accepted, the PreStartGo team switches your organisation to the new plan and sets up billing with you. There's nothing to migrate and no downtime.
Which paid plan
| Plan | When it fits |
|---|---|
| Contractor | You've outgrown Plant Operator's machine cap. Same features, no cap on machines |
| Builder | You run the site: sites, inductions, check-in, toolbox talks, contractors, and kiosks |
| Hire | You hire machines out: operating agreements, handover, off-hire and depot locations |
See Plans Overview for what each plan includes, and the add-ons that sit on top of any paid plan.
Note
Paid plans are set up by our team, not bought in the console: if your Billing page shows a Start Contractor plan button, talk to us instead. Each plan is agreed with you first — the plan, any add-ons, how you'd like to pay, and the devices you'll fit — so what you're billed for matches what you asked for.
What carries over
Everything. Equipment records, inspection history, defects, licences, the audit trail — all carry forward unchanged. Changing plan changes your limits and billing, never your compliance history. There is nothing to export, re-import, or re-verify, and your team keeps working in the console and the app throughout.
Every fitted device keeps its own device subscription, whatever the plan. Once you're on a paid plan, the payment options are month to month, annual prepay, or a signed term — we'll go through them with your quote.
Downgrading
Cancelling a paid subscription returns the organisation automatically to Plant Operator — a working free account over your intact records, not a lockout. See What Happens If a Subscription Lapses.
Edge cases
- Working on someone else's site doesn't need a paid plan. A Plant Operator or Contractor organisation works on a Builder's site under the Builder's plan.
- Hired-in machines count towards Plant Operator's cap from the moment the owner books the hire. If a hire is refused because you're at the cap, that's the time to talk to us.
- Between Hire and the fleet plans — Hire is a separate register, so we'll talk through the right structure with you rather than converting one into the other.
