Stop guessing. Start enforcing.
A small PreStartGo interlock on each machine means it won't start until the operator completes the pre-start on their phone. Every check and defect is recorded and can't be edited afterwards, so you can prove it happened.
From A$39 per machine per month.

Operators scan the machine's GoTag, work through the checklist with photos, and the app unlocks the machine. Pre-starts keep working with no coverage and sync when the phone is back in range.

Cleared — the machine unlocks

Status LED
Solid green when unlocked. Solid red when a pre-start is required.
Mode button
Hold it for ten seconds for the emergency bypass, where the button bypass is enabled.
Main relay
Holds the interlocked circuit open while the machine is locked.
Supply
6–36 V DC: suits 12 V and 24 V systems.
The Interlock
A relay fitted by a licensed auto electrician sits in the starter circuit, or in the operator-presence circuit where that suits the machine, and holds it open until a completed pre-start unlocks it over Bluetooth. No phone signal is needed once the phone holds that machine's unlock key, which it fetches online the first time.
Fail-START
On power loss the relay defaults to letting the machine start — operators are never stranded. The Interlock is a compliance-enforcement tool, not a safety-rated isolation device.
The office

Every check and every defect is written to an append-only record that nobody can edit after the fact. The reports a client, an auditor or the regulator asks for are ready when you need them.
A failed item raises a defect the whole team can see, from the moment it is reported to the moment it is closed. When the failed item is critical, the machine's pre-starts fail until that defect is closed. A technician can also take a machine out of service: its pre-starts then fail until it is lifted out of service — closing the defect doesn't.
